This time last year, I knew absolutely nothing about
Dark Shadows. Nothing at all... Come to think
of it, anything I thought I did know actually turned
out to be about the BBC children’s series Dark
Season instead - that’s how little I knew!
It’s
a very strange experience to become excited about a
television series you’ve never seen or grown up
with, but I knew I wanted to become involved with Dark
Shadows as soon as the series’ premise was
described to me. The fact that it was being done on
audio appealed to me no end, if only because the horror
of our stories instantly had to become more psychological
rather than visual, prying into anxieties your subconscious
didn’t even know it had!
The
Book of Temptation is a contained and intimate
tale, designed to deal with the apprehensions and threats
that stalk the Collins family wherever they go and whoever
they meet, even within their own ancestral home of Collinwood.
And, of course, we take the opportunity to delve a little
deeper into the history of Collinsport itself: a world
created with such relish by the late, great Dan Curtis…
a world with so much more to offer than our own.
